Makoko Malaria and Malnutrition Eradication Project (MMMEP) – Phase II

December 30, 2020 josephkingsleyy@gmail.com No comments yet

Building on the insights and partnerships developed in Phase I, INAI implemented the second phase of the MMMEP from December 2020 to December 2021. This phase focused on three key areas:

  • Community Health Services: Provision of malaria diagnosis and treatment for women and children under five.
  • Nutrition Education: Hands-on sessions and complementary feeding demonstrations for mothers with young children, aimed at improving child nutrition.
  • Data Collection: Gathering valuable health and nutrition data to inform future interventions.

To enhance community engagement and overcome challenges such as language barriers encountered in Phase I, a community ambassador was recruited. This ambassador played a vital role in facilitating home visits and supporting mothers transitioning to healthier dietary practices.

Across both phases, MMMEP reached 103 mother-child pairs with essential healthcare services, while 216 women received tailored nutrition education to support the health and development of their families.
